Lecture:

The basic definition of visual literacy is the ability to read, write and create visual images. This is a concept related to art and design, but it also has wider applications.

It is a way to understand design, focusing on visual elements and principles. In its strictest definition - the description and interpretation of visual structure for its own purposes. However, its purpose can also identify the choices made by designers when creating designs, and better understand how the formal attributes of design convey ideas, content or meaning.

Visual literacy is an important part of visual literacy, a skill that helps people read and critically interpret images.

Improve critical judgment and help people find answers instead of passively accepting information.

The analysis consists of three steps:

Observation, analysis and interpretation

Phase 1: observation

Carefully observe and identify the visual elements of the design.

Describe them carefully and accurately in your own words.

Don't read about design at all.

Observe, think, and find good language to convey what you notice

Phase 2: analysis

Think about your observations and try to make a statement about the art based on the evidence you observe.

Combine to create a whole and what impact the whole has on the audience.

Apply the design principles learned in recent weeks.

Stage 3: Interpretation

The observation, description and analysis of works are integrated with the facts of design works and historical background, which can be found from reliable sources.

Visual Research

After several hours of visual research, I chose the work of a famous Chinese illustrator insist22

Phase I: observation

Visual elements, the main colors observed are gray, red and brown. This gives a depressing feeling. The composition of this design work is asymmetric balance design. There are many details in some dark places. Intermediate scenes and backgrounds are also applied in the works.

Phase 2: analysis

We can see a bunch of couples eating. But this picture has many terrible details. We can see that there are three candles on the table, and there are also folk taboos. For example, you can't put chopsticks in the rice. There is a squatting little girl on the left. She is looking at a doll with a knife in her stomach. Then look at a body in the cabinet on the right. There are also under the table. Generally speaking, this design work gives people a feeling of depression and terror in color. But its elements are very rich, with many small details.

Part 2: Design

I use a symmetrical way. Let the whole picture look very narrow and dark, and then I added a lot of Chinese elements. Wedding dress applied to China. Red and dark make it look a little scary

I made a lot of adjustments. I also tried a lot of styles.

The square in the middle is actually a picture frame. Marriage ceremony for per sons already dead{fictitious stories}
